We Pray for the Family of The Rev. Steven Douglas Jackson

Reverend Steven Douglas Jackson, 65, of Newberry, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

He was a member of the Mid Carolina Ministerial Association.

Pastor Steve faithfully served on the Pomaria Rescue Squad, the Pomaria Fire Department, and had served as a chaplain and reserve officer with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office for a number of years.

Steve had the biggest heart, an infectious laugh, and held a passion for sharing God’s grace with the world as a pastor. He loved to serve the church family and community with his caring nature, compassion for others, and steadfast prayers.

He is survived by his sister, Susan (Wayne) Young; his niece, Amy (Nic) Whisnant; his nephew, Brad (Jordan) Young; a great-nephew, Sawyer Young, three great-nieces, Kate Young, Logan Whisant and Collins Whisnant; former step-daughter, Brianna Beckom and step-granddaughter, Amaiya Beckom.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2022, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Pomaria, SC with the service to be conducted by Bishop Ginny Aebischer, of the SC Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve’s memory to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Good Samaritan Fund, PO Box 170, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Almighty God, source of all mercy and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with those who mourn, that, casting all their sorrow on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
