We Pray for the Family of The Rev. Henry N. Brandt

Rev. Henry N. Brandt, age 92 of Clinton, formerly of Prosperity, died Friday, September 1, 2023 at The Clinton Presbyterian Community. Born November 20, 1930 in Walhalla, SC, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Pauline Todd Brandt. He was the widower of Rose Smith Brandt, his wife of 60 years.

Rev. Brandt loved God and his family, and was faithful in loving them. As a Pastor for 42 years, he served at Trinity/Good Hope Lutheran Church in Saluda, Trinity Lutheran Church in Georgetown, St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Prosperity, and Trinity Lutheran church in Elloree.

He graduated from Newberry College in 1951 and Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary in 1954.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol J. Brandt, of Saluda; sons, Henry Paul Brandt (Caroline) and Tim Brandt, Col. US Army Ret. (Robin), both of Prosperity; sisters, Dorothy P. Brandt of Seneca and Sarah Wyatt (Jim) of Wahalla; grandchildren, Paula Hammett (Ben), Hannah Thacker, David Brandt (Lea), Alex Brandt (Sam), and Emma Brandt; great grandchildren, Anna Brandt, Gayle Hammett, Henry Brandt, Clara Rose Thacker, and Mia Thacker; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Rose, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Brandt.

Funeral services will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Prosperity on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 1:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Jason Schafer. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.

Interment will be at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Walhalla, SC.

Memorials may be made to the Rev. Henry and Rose Brandt Scholarship Fund, care of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4056 St Luke’s Church Rd, Prosperity, SC 29127.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of The Clinton Presbyterian Community for their care and concern during Henry’s stay there.
