On Thursday, June 11-Saturday, June 13, we will come together at the Brookland Baptist Banquet and Conference Center for Synod Assembly.
Pre-Assembly Information:
- Our daily meetings will be held at Brookland Baptist Banquet and Conference Center, 1066 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, SC 29169.
- Thursday evening will be Beer and Hymns with dessert and drinks bar. Friday evening will be the Art Show and Bishop’s Celebration with finger foods, drinks and ice cream bar. Both of these social activities will be held at Marriott Columbia, 1200 Hampton St, Columbia, SC 29201 in the Carolina Ballroom.
- Parking at the conference center is free. Parking at the Marriott is in the public parking garage next to the hotel. Please bring your parking stub with you and we will have a paid pass to give to you when you turn in your stub so you do not bear the cost of parking.
- On Thursday, there will be a voting member orientation for anyone who would like to attend. This begins at 1:00 PM in our meeting space.
Business Session Information:
- On Thursday voting members and visitors may begin to check in starting at 11:00 a.m. It is important that you come early to check in as the line gets long and you will not be admitted to the meeting space unless you have checked in.
- On Thursday our session begins with worship. The doors to the meeting space will be closed during worship so you will want to make certain you have arrived early enough to get checked in.
- Check-in will be paused anytime the Assembly is preparing to vote. As we begin each vote, the doors will be closed. A count of voting members is required and once that count is given, no one else will be allowed to check in until after that vote happens. Again, please make sure to arrive early enough to get checked in before 1:30 p.m. as the line will get long.
- There are designated areas for voting members and visitors. Please respect those designations. A voting member must be seated in the established “bar” in order to vote.
- Take time now to review the documents. Reading this information ahead of time will help you feel ready for our time together.
Bishop Election Information:
This year’s Assembly will include the election of a bishop. If you would like to better understand this process, we invite you to visit the Bishop Election page on our website for an overview of how the election will take place.
Thursday and Friday Social Gathering Information:
- Thursday evening will be Beer and Hymns with dessert and drinks bar. Friday evening will be the Art Show and Bishop’s Celebration with finger foods, drinks and ice cream bar. Both of these social activities will be held at Marriott Columbia, 1200 Hampton St, Columbia, SC 29201 in the Carolina Ballroom.
- You do not need to have registered to attend Assembly to come and join in the social fellowship.
- There will be a drinks bar both evenings. Cash or credit/debit card is accepted.
- Both social gatherings are from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
- There will be a few presentations to Bishop Ginny on Friday evening as part of the celebration. Those presentations are a part of the Art Show and will begin around 7:30 PM.
Joining From Home:
If you are not attending in person, you are still invited to be part of the Assembly. Sessions will be livestreamed on YouTube and the Synod Website. Previous sessions will be avaialble on the Assembly’s Media & News Page.
