Reading Tutors for Richland One Schools
Deadline to Register August 25
Faith leaders and congregations who have partnered with Richland School District One are taking steps to address the critical issue of literacy as a foundation of a strong education. Building on a multi-denominational program begun in January of 2015, we will continue to pair reading tutors with children in both first and second grades. The children will be identified by their teachers as students whose reading will benefit from the extra attention given by tutors. Tutoring will improve the children’s ability to read. We believe this will cultivate in them a life-long love of reading.
Join Us! For instructions regarding how to sign up and get to training please contact the Reverend Susan Heath at sheath@edusc.org. Tutoring will begin Monday, September 16. Tutors are asked to commit one hour per week for the school year.
Tutoring will be offered at the following Richland One schools: Arden, Burton Pack, H.B. Rhame, Hopkins, Hyatt Park, Logan, Pine Grove, Sandel, E.E. Taylor, and J.P. Thomas For school locations: www.richlandone.org.
