Dear Friends in Christ,
I am happy to share the delightful news that on Saturday, August 24, 2024 the South Carolina Synod Council issued a call to Deacon Kim Heindl to serve as Assistant to the Bishop. Deacon Heindl join our staff on September 1, 2024.
Deacon Kim has served as an ELCA Deacon for 15 years and is currently serving at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary of Lenoir Rhyne University in South Carolina as executive assistant to the Rector and Dean. Her responsibilities in addition to supporting the Rector and Dean include support for the LTSS Advisory Council, the ELCA Eastern Cluster of Lutheran Seminaries and relating to all outward facing constituencies of the seminary. She is part of the leadership team and is responsible for leading and supporting projects and events including strategic planning and initiatives.
Deacon Heindl is currently rostered in the Florida Bahamas Synod and has served in many capacities over the years including capital campaign explore task force, Leadership Task Force, Compensation Guidelines Task Force, First Call Theological Education lead team and the FB Synod Coaching Task Force. She has also been a retreat leader for congregations in transition and congregational councils in visioning and strategic thinking.
She enjoys developing community relationships through identifying and implementing opportunities for equipping, encouraging, connecting and growing leaders. She loves to identify tools, resources, and methods that best fit the community’s needs and culture to cultivate personal/community growth.
Deacon Kim is the mother of two fine young adults, Shane and Danielle. In her free time she enjoys reading, Sci-Fi series, symphony concerts, jazz music, kayaking, and walking in the woods.
We look forward to having Deacon Kim join our Staff and we hope you will join us in welcoming her warmly to the South Carolina Synod.
