Bill was born in Columbia on January 19, 1930 to the late Harry and Ethel Johnson. He attended College at the University of South Carolina, and the Southern Theological Seminary. Bill was the 1st student in seminary to do an internship and thus started the internship program at seminary. Bill was honored to be Pastor at many churches, from Boynton Beach Florida where he began his first church to North Carolina, New York and Georgia.
Bill also enjoyed travel. He took a leave from Preaching to become a tour guide out of California, and traveled to many places. He loved reliving each trip with tales of the places he had been.
Bill was preceeded in death by his sister Mrs.Sadie McCartha. He leaves behind 4 nieces Judy Bouknight Of Charleston SC, Faye Meetze of Chapin SC, Rebecca Davani of Hudson NH, Paula Mizell of Hudson NH, and 1 nephew, Mark McCatha of Savannah GA, along with many great and great great nieces and nephews. He also leaves his many friends that he made through all his life.
There was a memorial service Saturday May 26, 2018 at the New Life Chapel at The Heritage at Lowman, with internment following at Crescent Hill Cemetery.
