Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is never easy to say goodbye to a trusted colleague and friend like Pastor Wolf has been to me and to so many others around the South Carolina Synod over the last four and half years. August 31 will be his last day as Assistant to the Bishop with leadership responsibility for ministry to and with youth and young adults. Lauren, his wife, has received a new position at Sigilon in Biomedical Science in Boston where she begins September 1st. Eric will be working in a hospice ministry at Metro West, an Amedisys company.
Some of you who didn’t get to know Pastor Eric very well might be wondering about the impact of his ministry. Here are some statistics that might help us appreciate how God has worked in and through Eric’s leadership.
Youth Leadership Retreats (6-12th grade) – 48
Discipleship Serving Events – 7
LOVE Projects – 12
LCY Cabinet Meetings – 20
Approximate Number of Youth Impacted in these Ministries –583
New Adult Leaders Recruited – 54
Campus Ministry Site Visits – 33
Number of Congregations he Preached or Presided – 72
Approximate Miles Driven – 55,238
Of course these numbers don’t begin to reflect the deep caring relationships that Pastor Eric has nurtured with youth, young adults, other pastors in our synod and congregations where he guided them through the call process. If you know anything at all about Pastor Eric, it is these life-giving relationships centered in Jesus Christ that have meant the most to him. It is also why he will be so greatly missed.
Thank you, Pastor Eric, and may God give you traveling mercies and continue to lead, bless and guide you, Lauren and Willo into your new future.
In Christ,
Bishop Herman Yoos
