A Reflection – Holy Week 2026

Christians move through this solemn Holy Week gathered in community. We worship, we read scripture, we pray, we sing songs and chants.
During the Palm Sunday Parade, we follow Jesus waving palm branches and chanting: “All glory, laud and honor to you, redeemer, king. To whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring.” And by the we end of this week in solemn reflection, we sing, “Were you there when they crucified my Lord?”
On my heart are the hundreds of Church Pastors, Deacons, Church Musicians and Administrators who are faithfully leading the people of God through this Holy Week. The opportunity and responsibility of proclaiming the Word of God and gathering the people into the powerful life-giving drama of Christ’s life, death and resurrection, is palpable. This is the central week of our faith and life as followers of Jesus, and we are reminded that in Christ, all things are made new.
I see you, Friends, and I am praying for you with thanksgiving for all your faithful acts that make this week so meaningful for the Beloved. I pray you make the space to breathe, and know that you are loved and appreciated for your faithful telling of the sacred story; for your attention to the details and care of God’s people. Take heart, because you have the absolute best and most important story to share! And we know that this story does not end on Good Friday! Our world yearns for Resurrection! And Easter is coming!
And then, may we sing together with joyful hearts, “Lo, Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb! Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom; let his church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting! Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won!”
Blessings for your Holy Week and Easter Season!
In Christ,
