In Ephesians 2:10, Paul writes, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” The Greek word for “workmanship” is poiēma, from which we get the English word “poem.” This verse beautifully illustrates that we are God’s masterpiece, His poem, created to perform good works. Our creativity and good deeds are not just random acts; they are a direct result of our creation and a reflection of our creator.
God creates and then makes humanity in His image to be fellow creators. From the initial command to tend the garden (Genesis) to the call to do good works (Ephesians), scripture consistently reinforces the idea that we were “created to create”—to build, innovate, and steward the world in a way that brings glory to our creator. This is a fundamental part of our identity and purpose.
In addition to spotlighting ministry stories from our synod, we will be doing the important and holy work of electing a new synod bishop. Even as we prayerfully discern and elect a new bishop, we will be taking time at this Assembly to come together and honor and give thanks to God for the ministry of Bishop Ginny Aebischer.
The upcoming Assembly will be held June 11-13, 2026, in Columbia. This is an in-person gathering. While Assembly will be livestreamed and you can watch at no cost. If you are watching online, you will not be able to vote or address the Assembly. Our daily meetings will be held at Brookland Banquet and Conference Center. We will host fellowship events and lodging at the Marriott Columbia. The drive between these two venues is 2.6 miles. There is ample parking at both locations.
Registration will be through Eventbrite again this year. Payment is required to complete registration. You do not need to register if you intend to watch online. Registration will open on March 2 and close on May 1. Please make note of these dates to ensure your registration is completed on time.
Early Bird Registration Window: March 2 – April 2, 2026. Cost per person is $175.
Standard Registration Begins: April 3, 2026. Cost per person increases to $225.
Registration Closes (Final Deadline): May 1, 2026. There will not be an opportunity to register late or onsite.
