“Give it One More Try!” Mark 5:25-34
Keeping Dr. King’s dream alive in the hope that one day we will all truly be Beloved Community, the Rev. Angela Ford Broughton, pastor at New Life United Methodist Church, Walterboro and LTSS graduate (2015) brought it home with a message of hope and unity. As preacher/speaker at the 13th Annual event at Ascension Lutheran in Columbia, she brought a diverse full house to their feet imploring us to “give it ONE MORE TRY!”
Bishop Ginny brought greetings and gratitude to the assembled and reminded us that justice isn’t “something new,” it is in our baptismal covenant: “… to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth”. (Baptism and Affirmation of Baptism ELW pp. 232-237.)
Gratitude to Rev. Jackie Utley and the people of Ascension Lutheran Church for their planning, hospitality and grace. Thanks to the South Carolina Synod Inclusiveness Network (INET) group for their participation and support. And to the community gathered for their commitment, enthusiasm and One More Try!
