We Pray for the Family of Amanda “Mandy” Caughman Derrick

Amanda “Mandy” Caughman Derrick was born on August 11, 1959 and passed away on August 14, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lib Caughman.

Mandy was a 1977 graduate of Lexington High School and a 1981 graduate of Newberry College. She enjoyed a 29 year career in public education as a beloved second and third grade teacher. She loved teaching, South Carolina history, baking, and serving her church through working with children.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Derrick, her daughters Anna Panning (Jonathan) and Sarah Menke (Josh), and her grandchildren who adored her: Jacob, Grace, and Isaac. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Alexander and brother, Ray Caughman.

A funeral service will be on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at St. David’s Lutheran Church. A visitation will immediately follow. The service can be livestreamed at https://stdavid.net/livestream

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. David’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Almighty God, source of all mercy and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with those who mourn, that, casting all their sorrow on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
