We Pray for the Family of Pauline Brunson Loadholdt

Pauline Elizabeth Brunson Loadholdt, affectionately known as “Betty,” passed peacefully into eternal life at the age of 91 in Newberry, S.C., on October 26. Born on October 11, 1934, in Clarendon County, S.C., she was the eldest daughter of the late William Alva Brunson and Margaret Stuckey Brunson.

Betty graduated from Summerton High School in 1953 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Winthrop College in 1957. That same year, she married The Rev. Donald Brantley Loadholdt, and together they began their life in Lexington, N.C.

As a devoted pastor’s wife, Betty shared her gifts by teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and nurturing their four children. She also dedicated her professional life to education, teaching Home Economics and Special Education in North Carolina public schools until her retirement in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 55 years, and her sister Faye Brunson Sifford (2016). Betty’s legacy lives on through her children: Donna Childers of Rock Hill, S.C.; Bill Loadholdt (Robin) of Prosperity, S.C.; Cathy Lyons (Tommy) of Mooresville, N.C.; and Beth Hickman (Eddy) of Winston-Salem, N.C.
