The 2025 South Carolina Synod Assembly elected eleven members of Synod Council, including one youth member to a two-year term, one lay person to a one-year unexpired term, and one rostered minister to a one-year unexpired term. Those elected to Synod Council on the first ballot are as follows:
Rostered Minister—Central Area, term ending 2026: Eric Fink
Lay Man—Person of Color/Language Other than English, term ending 2028: Jamie Lleras Rostered Minister—Northern Area, term ending 2028: Heather Apel
Lay Man—At Large, term ending 2028: Thomas “Van” Matthews
Lay Woman—At Large, term ending 2028: Cheryle Noyes
Lay Man—Eastern Area, term ending 2028: Michael Lutz
Lay Woman—Central Area, term ending 2028: Irina Roof
Young Adult, term ending 2028: Mary Katherine Goyne
Youth, term ending 2027: Morgan Nesmith
Rostered Minister—At Large, term ending 2026 (unexpired term): Mike Shackelford
On a second ballot, the Assembly elected Rostered Minister—At Large, term ending 2028: Eric Little
The assembly also elected Rev. Jason Schafer to the Mission Endowment Fund Grant Committee for a term ending in 2028 and Mr. Don Caughman to the board of the South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers for a term ending in 2028.
