There are two opportunities to participate.

Course Descriptions

Bible Study Kickoff: A Genesis Conversation

A Kick-off Event for the people of the South Carolina Synod to begin a year of intentional Bible Study together. The last hour of the ToolBox Event will include a Conversation about Scripture, led by a Panel of Synod leaders and move into small group reflections on the Word. It will end with an opportunity for Q&A. We look forward to cracking open the Scriptures together as the South Carolina Synod.

Growing Younger

Does your church want to see more young people walking in the doors and engaged in ministry? This class, drawing from the ELCA’s Growing Younger initiative, will bring you tools to better involve young adults in your ministry.

Faith Formation Beyond Sunday School

Sunday school isn’t what it once was, but our responsibility to educate and form in faithful living all of our members – young and old alike – has not gone away. This class will talk about ways of building faith formation beyond the traditional Sunday School model.

Faithful Technology

It is 2023, and technology is not going away. If you are wondering how your congregation can, with the people and skills it has, best use the tools of technology for your ministry, your outreach, and welcoming, you should check this class out.

Finances as Faith Formation

The dollars and cents are important in ministry, but they are the means to an end, not the end themselves. This class will focus on how our budgeting and financial discussions are, first and foremost, spiritual practices in ministry.

Innovation

Is there a challenge your congregation is facing that needs a different solution than what you tried before? Is your congregation looking for ways to break out of old patterns and come up with new ideas? This class will work through Design Thinking, what it is, and how your congregation may be able to use it to benefit you, the people you serve, and the community around you.

Reading Your Budget

Are you struggling to make sense of the dollars and cents? This class is there for any leader who wants to better understand how budgeting, money, and financial matters happen in your congregation.

Understanding Your Constitution

The constitution is the missional document of every congregation. Each congre-gation has a constitution, and each one is slightly different. In this course, you’ll hear about the most important pieces of your church’s constitution and better understand how you can make this document work for your context in ministry.
