Synod Communicators
What Synod Communicators Do
Synod Communicators are volunteers, approved by their congregation’s council, from South Carolina Synod congregations who help bring the stories of how our offerings, gifts, and effective congregational ministries are reaching “outside the walls” across the synod. You will, through the use of video and synod publications, share stories from across the synod with your congregation. You will share your congregation’s stories of work “outside the walls” by submitting them for publication throughout the South Carolina Synod.
What We Ask of You
- You will share stories of God’s mission by showing videos produced by the synod, conduct the accompanying devotion, and share the ELCA resource Stories of Faith in Action in a variety of settings within the congregation.
- You will display the poster titled Where Does My Offering Go? in an appropriate place in your church facility
- You will sign up for the The South Carolina Lutheran eNews, encourage your Congregation Council and members of your congregation to sign up. The direct link is http://scsynod.us/scsynodenewssignup/.
- You are asked to sign up for The South Carolina Lutheran magazine and encourage members of the congregation to subscribe. To subscribe, contact Tiffany Pieters (tiffany@scsynod.com) at the Synod Office.
- You will, at least one time per year (you are welcomed to do more), submit short story (300-350 words) with three to four good quality pictures that we can choose from to illustrate your story. Begin to think of ways the Holy Spirit has been giving your congregation energy to reach out with the love of Christ in your community. These stories will be shared through our website, social media and The South Carolina Lutheran. Send your story to Neal Fischer (neal@scsynod.com)
Conference Communicators
Conference Communicators play a vital role
We give thanks for our volunteers who serve as Conference Communicators. These are the people who help share the news of congregations across your conference in The South Carolina Lutheran Magazine. Our current volunteers are listed below. We have some openings in conferences as well. If you would like to help, please contact Neal Fischer (neal@scsynod.com).
