Ministry today is filled with challenges. Rostered ministers and lay leaders often work tirelessly to try and find strategies to effectively minister within their context.
This course is being offered by the South Carolina Synod, ELCA and will offer tools and resources to assist our congregations in creating strategies that fit individual contexts and help create approaches to better proclaim Jesus to their communities.
All sessions will be via Zoom. Leaders will gather for 6 sessions, once a month from October 2024 – March 2025. This course will be offered at two times, either 11:00 AM-Noon or 1:00-2:00 PM. At the end of the course, each congregation that participates will receive up to $950 in resources from the SC Synod, including a 1 year subscription to Church Fuel at no cost.
Course Outline
Due to Hurricane Helene the first session will take place November 7. The timeline will be updated as more information is available.
Session 1 – October 10 – Leaders will begin to define their congregation’s purpose, mission and target audience.
Session 2 – November 7 – Leaders will continue to define their congregation’s mission and values.
Session 3 – December 5 – Leaders will determine what their congregation’s profile looks like and what sets them apart from other churches.
Session 4 – January 9 – Marketing vs. Ministry in relation to church websites
Session 5 – February 6 – Marketing vs. Ministry in relation to Social Media platforms.
Session 6 – March 6 – Financial Resources/Grants
The cost for the course is $150.00 per congregation. Each congregation registration allows up to 3 leaders, rostered and lay, to participate.

Bobby is the Lead Pastor and planter of The Ridge Church in Oak Ridge, TN and the Coaching Champion for Church Fuel. He has been in full-time ministry for 20 years.
His areas of expertise include church planting, discipleship and leadership models, systems, worship planning, and sermon content.
