The Reverend George W. Fisher died on May 11th, 2020 at the age of 88. He was born on April 3rd, 1932 in Howard Lake, MN. He graduated high school from Morris, MN in 1950 and then graduated from Augsburg College, (Cum Laude) Minneapolis, MN in 1954. He graduated in 1959 with a Masters of Divinity and was ordained at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. In 1956 he married Mary J. Andersen.
Pastor Fisher served parishes in the Midwest, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia, and was called to special services to teach at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, MN. After he retired in South Carolina, he served as stated supply at St. Peters Lutheran church and interim at Faith Lutheran Church in Batesburg, SC. He also continued to supply other Lutheran Churches in the SC synod. Pastor and Mary Fisher joined Pilgrim Lutheran Church in 1994.
Pastor George W. Fisher was preceded in death by his father, George Elmer Fisher; his mother, Meta Thralow Fisher; and his brother, Stanley C. Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Martha Dorrell (Gerald), Rebecca Swartz (Bryan), Peter Fisher, Jonathan Fisher (Terry); and grandchildren, Steven Dorrell, David Dorrell, Jacob Fisher, and Luke Fisher.
