ELCA and Episcopal Church issue call for prayer, fasting and advocacy

The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and the Most Rev. Michael B. Curry, presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church, have issued a joint statement calling for prayer, fasting and advocacy addressing cuts to public programs that are vital to hungry people who are living in poverty.

ELCA leaders meet with members of Congress

ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton, joined more than 100 Lutheran leaders, ELCA members and international partners in Washington, D.C., March 27-29 for the 2017 Advocacy Convening. The gathering, organized by ELCA Advocacy and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, focused on issues surrounding welcome and protection for refugees and migrant children and families.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is committed to supporting policies that safeguard God’s creation, address the impacts of climate change on our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, and fulfill our moral obligation to future generations. Because of these commitments, ELCA Advocacy is deeply concerned about the White House’s executive action taken on March 28, 2017 to eradicate our nation’s progress in combating climate change.
