Joining God in the Neighborhood: Ministry that Transforms Lives

The Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, and makes holy the body of Christ, the church- sending disciples to proclaim the Good News which changes hearts, lives, and communities.

The Rev. Rebecca Stevens and the Rev. Kevin Strickland will lead us in Bible study, worship, and conversation, reflecting on ministries that make a tangible impact on the lives of people in our neighborhoods. Join the sharing, dreaming, envisioning!

Rostered Leaders: Convocation is a vital opportunity to gather for worship, learning, mutual upbuilding, and fellowship. Your presence at convocation is a blessing to others as we are renewed in spirit for the ministries to which we are called. If you don’t usually attend – we encourage you to reconsider!

Congregation Members: Encourage your rostered leaders to attend this time of reflection, renewal, and collegiality. Convocation can positively impact the spiritual health of your leaders! Please encourage your congregation leaders to provide financial support for your pastors and deacons to attend.

The Rev. Becca Stevens of Thistle Farms

Keynote Speaker and Bible Study Leader

Becca Stevens is an author, speaker, priest, social entrepreneur, and the founder and president of Thistle Farms. From a young age, she longed to open a sanctuary offering loving community to survivors. In 1997, five women who had experienced trafficking, violence, and addiction were welcomed home. Twenty years later, Thistle Farms continues to welcome women with free residence that provides housing, medical care, therapy and education for two years. Residents and graduates earn income through one of four social enterprises. The Global Market of Thistle Farms helps employ more than 1,800 women worldwide and the national network has more than 40 sister communities. Becca’s newest book, Love Heals, was published by Harper Collins in September 2017.
