Rostered Leaders Convocation

Being the Church: People of Faith Engaging the World

October 22-24, 2018
Monday, 2pm through Wednesday, late morning

What if Church is not so much about inviting people in, as it is about people going out?

What does it look like to fully engage the community around us?

Dr. Melinda Denton and the Rev. Dr. Theresa Thames will lead us in reflection, conversation, and Bible study
on the theme of how our congregations might grow in their ability to engage the world around us.

Rostered Leaders: Convocation is a vital opportunity to come together for worship, study, mutual upbuilding, and fellowship. Your presence at convocation is a blessing to others as together we are renewed in spirit for the ministries to which we are called. If you don’t usually attend – we encourage you to reconsider this year!
Congregation Members: Please encourage your rostered leaders to attend this time of reflection, renewal, and collegiality. Convocation can positively impact the spiritual health of your leaders! Please request that your congregation leaders provide financial support for your pastors and deacons to attend.

On-Site Registration is $200 until September 21st.* Starting on September 22nd the price rises to $230. This includes lodging, meals, and program.

Commuter Registration is $135 until September 21st.* Starting on September 22nd the price rises to $165. This includes meals and program.

*Mailed registration forms must be postmarked by September 21.

The Blessing of the Animals,… and Plants, and…

It is that time of year when word of a Blessing of the Animals service is heard in many congregations. Saint Francis of Assisi is known as the patron saint of animals, and his commemoration takes place on October 4. Hence, if a congregation hosts a Blessing of Animals service, they typically plan their event near this date. There is, however, more for us to know about this blessing and about Saint Francis.
