St. John’s Lutheran Men Lead a Work Day at Camp Kinard
By Rev. John Stirewalt
Pastor – St. John’s, Lexington
Coordinated by St. John’s member Richard Taylor, the group focused on heavy landscaping and road repair. Equipped with shovels, pavement tampers, a front loader and an excavator St. John’s men repaired more than 20 poles marring Camp Kinard’s paved lanes. As one crew mended pavement, another crew felled dead trees that towered up to 80 feet. The sound of shovels and falling timber echoed through Camp Kinard’s compound. Near the pool and office area, the sound of hedge trimmers filled the air.
St. John’s Lutheran Men was reformed in 2018 after a dormant period. Often referring to themselves as MAC (Men Advancing Christ), the group reformed with a mission to serve through community projects. Between community projects, the group meets at local restaurants to discuss life, plan projects and pray. St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 213 St. John’s Church Road, Lexington South Carolina.
