If you’ve never had a secret pal, boy are you missing out! At Messiah in Mauldin, we have a secret pal program and this is the way it works: First of all, you fill out a simple form outlining your favorite things (favorite food, favorite pastime, favorite flower; you get the idea). Next, you receive that same form filled out by someone else that will tell you who your secret pal is along with her personal likes, preferences, along with the date of her birthday. And this is where the fun begins! For a whole year, you remember your secret pal with a card or small gift on special occasions; most importantly, you pray every day for your secret pal. What makes this program so very special is that you know that you have someone who is praying for you.
This weekend, we had a brunch and the big “secret pal reveal.” We went around the room and each participant told about the special things that her secret pal had done throughout the year and then she guessed who had been her secret pal. Only two people guessed correctly. Through this program, new friends are made and special bonds are formed. This is certainly another wonderful way that God is at work at Messiah!
