Rich Learning: Heading to Allendale for Week Three

By Rich Melheim

We had a fun visit by Bishop Herman Yoos yesterday as we kicked off week 1 of 7 weeks of RICH Learning in Allendale, sponsored by the South Carolina Synod of the ELCA. He brought a bunch of books for nap time, a greeting from you all, and a special weekend treat for the summer staff.

If you happen to be anywhere near Allendale this summer, stop by Simpson UMC Monday – Friday from 9 – 3 – and see what we’re up to singing, dancing, acting and acting, while imbedding spelling, math, science, Mandarin, Spanish, and virtues in the brain-enriched environment.

And giggles. Lots of giggles.

And if you happen to know a young adult who loves the arts, loves kids and loves to make a big difference in the lives of the littles of God’s children, send them over to the Carolina Theater in Allendale Friday night August 3, 6:30. They’ll learn about paid summer internships for 2019 as we spread across the rural south. And they’ll see a show of little ones singing, dancing, acting and showing what they can do in 7 weeks of brain-based enriched learning on arts-based platforms.

This is YOUR SYNOD at work! God’s work. Our pudgy little finger-painted hands!
