The St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pawleys Island, held a Pioneer Club ‘kick off’ with a Tailgate Party! Parents of children ages 4 through 6th grade came, along with young men from the nearby Waccamaw High School football team. The players stopped by to help create excitement for the first get-together of the season, and they are pictured with the children.
The Pioneer Club is an ongoing program at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for any children in the community, and it meets each Wednesday, 5:00pm to 7:00pm in our Family Life Center. The children are given dinner prepared by members, then have a Bible-based story time, and play a few games. The program serves those who are both children of St. Peter’s members and those that are unchurched or looking for a Sunday morning Sunday School alternative. All children only pay a one time fee of $15 for supplies. The meals are not an extra charge.
This year the new Pioneer Club director, and St. Peter’s member, is Karen Gluntz, and she has lots of enthusiasm and is full of wonderful ideas to draw in the children! She has contacted other local churches that do not hold Wednesday evening activities and she has invited those children to attend. Also, St. Peter’s now offers a children’s chime choir instruction time before the Pioneer Club each Wednesday for young ones interested in music and learning to ring. As Mrs. Gluntz says, “the children are on God’s team” and they and their parents will soon know that “FAITH IS FUN AT ST. PETER’S!”
