Over 350 scouts and leaders from 26 troops in South Carolina and North Carolina endured the rain and cold to attend the 47th Annual SC Lutheran Scout Retreat at Camp Kinard January 15-17, 2016. Scouts participated in eleven events designed to promote teamwork and scouting knowledge. Old favorites included “THE WHEEL”, “TIN CAN COOKING” and “CARDBOARD TOBOGGAN”. New events included “ROCK THROW”, “THE FLY” AND “TREE STAND”.
Saturday night campfire was on a host/guest troop basis following supper. Troops were paired up so they could be close to a warm fire instead of a large event where many would not be close enough to the warmth of a fire. This allowed the troops to get to know each other better. An inspiring Sunday morning worship service was conducted by Regie Price, past chairman of the SC Lutheran Committee for Scouting. Awards were presented to the winners of the events and Recognition Certificates were presented to 28 scouts who attained the rank of EAGLE in 2015.
