Join us in celebrating Newberry College Sunday on April 29, 2918! If your congregation is interested in hosting a College representative to provide a sermon, temple talk or table display, we can help. We’d also be happy to provide you with bulletin inserts to celebrate Newberry College Sunday and its partnership with the Lutheran congregations of the South Carolina Synod. If you’ve never visited campus, or it’s been a while since you’ve visited, we can also arrange a campus tour for group from your congregation. Be the first to request a speaker! Contact Pastor Ernie or Susan Page at 803-947-2052 or email

Newberry College was established in 1856 by the Lutheran Synod of the South as a mission of the Church. For more than 160 years, Newberry College has proudly educated students in the Lutheran liberal arts tradition to serve God and humanity through their chosen vocation. We are proud to prepare our students for successful careers and meaningful lives as teachers, scientists, pastors, artists, philosophers, health care professionals, business leaders and much more. We are grateful that the South Carolina Synod of the ELCA has adopted the last Sunday in April as Newberry College Sunday, but if that’s not convenient for your congregation, we’re happy to provide for speaker requests throughout the year.

The U.S.S. Newberry Victory, a WWII combat cargo ship, was named after Newberry College.
