The final event of the first day of our Synod assembly, prior to the evening’s worship service, was a banquet. This was an undeniably wonderful wrap-up to a full afternoon of speeches and “display browsing.” Complemented by a band playing 70’s music (which made you want to stay longer than the meal itself), a delicious dinner of chicken, roasted potatoes, broccoli, salad, and melt-in-your-mouth rolls. Completing this feast were cheesecake, a mixed fruit dessert, and coffee. Waitresses and waiters were in abundance and available for your every need, making this more than a banquet dinner; it was fine dining at its best.
The banquet was sponsored by Lutheran Services Carolinas in celebration of the Love One Another campaign. LSC announced that it has raised $698,159.39 toward a goal on $1,000,000. The Love One Another capital campaign is a building block for child and family services in South Carolina. The projects that are part of the campaign will address the emerging critical needs and benefit three groups of people that LSC has been successful at serving for many years. The campaign will include a focus on guiding children and young people, welcoming the stranger, and encouraging individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
