If you are a Star Trek fan, you will be familiar with the phrase, “to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before”.
This year’s South Carolina Synod Assembly has adopted the theme, “To Boldly Go… To Proclaim”.

Starship Proclaim
While we haven’t been quite able to speak into our phasers and say, “Beam me up, Scottie (or in this case – Neal)”, we have been using futuristic technology to stay connected. We are using incredible formats such as “Zoom” and “FaceTime” that have allowed us to stay informed and engaged. As Bishop Aebischer says, “Being connected, walking together, is some of the most important work that we do as the church in Worship, Learning, Serving and Fellowship.” We thank God for this gift of connectivity.
As you will hear, Bishop Ginny tells us of the many places we have been over the past year. The Deans and Leaders of the ten amazing SC Synod Conferences have been instrumental in this journey. The SC Synod Staff and the SC Synod Council have also been supporting God’s work through the pandemic. Bishop Ginny also celebrates the service of former Bishop Herman Yoos. She encourages each of us to send our thanks and prayers to him through the SC Synod. God continues to move us at warp speed through His space – to new frontiers. His Holy Spirit guides us as we Boldly go…to Proclaim!
So, to conclude, I say, “Na-Nu, Na-Nu” – oops, wrong science fiction program. Go Boldly – To Proclaim…
