Be Joyful in the Lord

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.” – 1 Peter 1:8

lutheran-services-carolinasThe people served by Lutheran Services Carolinas have experienced many hardships. They could be refugees forced to flee their home countries, foster children separated from their families, or veterans who have served our country and now find themselves homeless. The theme for LSC’s emphasis month, Be Joyful in the Lord, encourages us to recognize and share God’s joy with all people. This joy can come in countless forms. For many, joy means having a safe place to live, a network of support, or even a full meal.

During the month of November, the ministries of Lutheran Services Carolinas are celebrated in congregations across South Carolina. Through programs that promote healing and wholeness, these ministries support people who have lost sight of God’s joy. Services offered include Lutheran Disaster Response, foster care, refugee services, services for victims of human trafficking, veterans services, and adult services caring for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

We invite your church to select a day to observe LSC Child and Family Services Sunday. We have speakers available to visit your church who can share more information about the LSC ministry. Materials to use in your LSC Sunday celebration have been mailed or e-mailed to your congregation and are also available on the LSC website, www.LSCarolinas.net (click on How You Can Help, then Faith Partners). For questions, please contact Michelle Chaffee at 704-603-1696 or mchaffee@LSCarolinas.net.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to support the work of LSC child and family services, make checks payable to Lutheran Services Carolinas and write “Child and Family Month” on the memo line. Contributions may be mailed to P.O. Box 947, Salisbury, NC 28145, or made securely online at www.LSCarolinas.net.

Through partnerships with congregations like yours, the ministries of LSC can restore joy to those who have lost all hope. Be joyful in the Lord and know that together we can change the lives of those in need.
